Busy bee Bella is buzzing about her charity fundraiser

An enterprising and climate -conscious Bridge of Allan youngster has been creating a buzz with a fundraising idea.Fairview International School, Bridge of Allan student Bella Gemmell has harnessed her entrepreneurial spirit by creating and selling her very own ‘bee bombs’, filled with wildflower seeds.Coined Bella’s Bee Bombs, she has been selling the product at school with all profits going to The Bumblebee Conservation Trust.Set up with a mission to increase the number and distribution of bumblebees, The Bumblebee Conservation Trust aims to tackle the conservation issues facing our nation’s bumblebee population.Bella recently sold her product at Fairview’s Christmas market event alongside other local vendors, raising a total of £104 so far for the charity.

She has also been selling them to students on campus whilst teaching the importance of bumblebee conservation.With a history of carrying out entrepreneurial projects supported by the school, Bella has previously raised funds for local charity Reanimate, by selling unique handmade scrunchies in the school’s very own tartan.Bella said: “I love all types of bees and I wanted to make something to help them that would be easy for everyone to use.

Bee bombs are so simple because you just scatter them on some soil and wait a few months for the flowers to grow. Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area. “It’s also quite exciting because you don’t know what flowers are going to grow.

I really enjoyed designing the bee bomb logo and packaging.“Bee bombs are really easy to make from soil, seeds, clay, and water, it’s a really fun thing to do for all ages.
