Bulldog shot dead by armed police after injuring two people in street

A bulldog was shot dead by police after the animal attacked and injured two people in a residential street. Greater Manchester Police cordoned off a number of roads in Leigh, Manchester on Saturday night after armed officers fatally shot the dog.

Two people were taken to hospital with injuries which required treatment, Manchester Evening News reports. There was a large police presence on Hope Street, Holden Road and The Avenue following the incident.

Police said they are still trying to establish the full circumstances of the incident and no arrests have been made. GMP confirmed the dog was shot by officers.
