weather warnings for flooding were in place for England today, with locations spanning from East Anglia deep into the Midlands, including Derbyshire.It comes after persistent rainfall over the course of the week and into the weekend left some river levels well above normal, according to the Environment AgencyIn rivers with significant tidal variations, such as River Thames at Trowlock Island, some light flooding of banks and low-lying land is anticipated to arrive with the morning high tide, although none of this is expected to damage buildings or pose any kind of danger to life.
Elsewhere, Sunday is expected to strike something of a north-south divide in terms of the overall weather outlook, with the best conditions expected in the north.The Met Office forecast for Sunday reads: "A good deal of cloud across southern and some central areas with a few showers, particularly in the morning, elsewhere dry with sunny periods, best across northern areas."The national weather agency also expects a dry Monday for most areas with "brisk winds" on the south coast, though this quickly deteriorates into a wetter state of play as the week wears on.Western areas will be particularly affected by windy conditions, and these could also be combined with cloud and showers.
