Ronaldo’s infamous “triangle fringe” hairdo could be making a comeback.A study found a 55% rise in the number of Google searches in the past year for “iconic footballer hairstyles” as Brits seek to copy their heroes.

Among the top three searches was for Ronaldo’s haircut which he sported when Brazil won the 2002 World Cup and Golden Boot in South Korea. The legendary striker later apologised to mums as kids all over the globe copied his “horrible haircut”.

He said: “I did the haircut. I saw my team-mates and asked, ‘Do you like it?’ They said, ‘No, it’s horrible! Cut it off!’” But Ronaldo did not ditch the hairdo until after winning the World Cup and billions of people worldwide saw him lift the trophy still sporting his “awful” hairstyle.

The study by hair restoration experts Aventus Clinic found that Ronaldo was number three on the list of most searched for hairdos in the past 12 months.
