A teenage boy has died on the M6 following reports of 'concern for his safety'. Emergency services rushed to the scene on the motorway near junction 21 at Warrington at around 9.40pm last night (Thursday).
Tragically, the boy died on the scene. His age has not yet been confirmed. No further details on how he died have been released by police at this stage. The northbound carriageway was then shut off for several hours overnight, with the road not fully reopened until around 5am this morning.
Traffic was diverted away from the area, with trapped vehicles being turned around. In a statement issued this morning, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 9.40pm on Thursday 17 August to the M6 at J21 following reports of a concern for safety of a teenage boy. "Sadly, despite best efforts, the teenager passed away at the scene.
