A boy accused of murdering Brianna Ghey denied any involvement in the teenager's death and told police that he saw his co-defendant stabbing her.
Boy Y claimed that after he and Girl X had walked into Culcheth Linear Park, he briefly turned around to go to the toilet on a tree before witnessing her stab Brianna.
Brianna, 16, was found by dog walkers in the park near Warrington at around 3pm on Saturday, February 11. She had been stabbed 28 times.
The 16-year-old defendants, known in press reports as Girl X and Boy Y, cannot be named for legal reasons. They both deny murder.
