A 13-year-old boy and three men will appear in court today charged with assaulting police officers in East London. Footage of Wednesday's incident - showing an officer pinned on the ground and being kicked while his female colleague is pushed - was widely shared on social media.
Two officers suffered minor injuries in the attack but did not require hospital treatment. Two men, aged 20 and 32, were arrested at the scene, while the teen and a 34-year-old man were arrested yesterday.
It has since been revealed the man wielding the bat was trying to help the police officer. Kemran, who did not want to give his surname, told MailOnline how he tried to reason with the attackers and acted as a shield for the officer.
