A 12-year-old boy on a bike was taken to hospital after crashing with a vehicle in Eccles. Police were called to the collision on Barton Lane at 7.30am this morning (Wednesday, November 17).

The child was taken to hospital with injuries that 'are not deemed to be life threatening or changing', a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said. READ MORE: Man charged with murder after mum-of-six stabbed to death The collision caused disruption on Trafford Road this morning with the traffic monitoring service INRIX reporting that it was 'partially blocked' with slow traffic.

Go North West also diverted its buses as a result of the police incident. But by 9am the accident was cleared and traffic returned to normal.
