The victory was in no small part down to the performances of Van de Beek and Sancho, both of whom impressed having previously struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.Caretaker manager Michael Carrick made the surprise decision to start the pair from the off against Villarreal, much to the delight of United's fans.
It was a move that paid off in spades as Sancho scored his first goal for the Red Devils, blasting home an effort that went in off the underside of the bar.
