A 12-year-old boy has been charged with over the death of an 11-year-old girl who died when she was thrown from the back of the vehicle he was driving.
The tragedy happened on September 7 last year and the boy, who was 11 at the time, was alleged driving a Mazda Brave Ute dangerously and speeding when it rolled on mudflats in Wyndham, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
There were five children in the car when it crashed and Abbey Forrest and another 11-year-old girl were thrown from the ute tray and Abbey died.
The young driver was charged with manslaughter over Abbey's death on Friday and is due to face court next month. She was named junior person of the year at the East Kimberley Aboriginal Achievement Awards in August that
