The officer who pressed his knee into the back of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week is set to be charged with second-degree murder, according to sources.
Ex-cop Derek Chauvin had formerly been charged with the lesser third-degree murder after he was filmed pinning Mr Floyd to the ground while he shouted "I can't breathe".
The other three officers are understood to be in the process of being charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
The three other officers, Tou Thao, J Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane will have their charges announced later today. That was filmed watching as Chauvin pressed his knee into Mr Floyd’s neck, while Kueng helped to pin the suspect down.
