He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson branded 'disgraceful' as people go back to work on packed buses

Many people made a wary return to work today after Boris Johnson loosened lockdown. Labour MP Dawn Butler said the “reckless” Prime Minister is “literally sending people to catch the virus”.

Images of packed buses and trains in London – with warnings social distancing guidelines could not be adhered to – were in contrast to deserted rail platforms and double-deckers seen in North England and the Midlands.

Mr Johnson was accused of leaving people confused by his announcement on Sunday, which included that those who cannot work from home and are able to return to their workplace safely, could do so.
