After vowing to begin to limit the number of members following a class of 819 in 2020, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited just 397 new inductees for 2022.
This is a modest two-person increase from 2021. And, as always, recent Oscar winners and nominees who were previously not in the Academy are part of the class.
This year’s highlights include winners Billie Eilish, Ariana DeBose, Troy Kotsur, “Drive My Car” writer and director Ryusuke Hamaguchi, and “CODA” director Sian Heder, makeup artist Stephanie Ingram, and short category winners such as Ben Proudfoot.
