Eric, a 19-year-old swan who lived at the Keg pool, in Etherow Country Park, in Romiley, was rushed to an RSPCA hospital after suffering infections in his wound.
The male cob swan had overcome a dog attack last year, but was unable to survive his latest biting and was pronounced dead at the Stapeley Grange wildlife centre, in south Cheshire.
