Wearing face masks in public is now a common occurrence and is, in fact, encouraged by the government in certain situations where social distancing may not be possible, for example at the shops or on public transport.
Face masks are not medical devices or personal protective equipment, which is reserved for frontline key workers, but the best face masks for kids can serve as an extra way of being careful in enclosed spaces.
Professor Chris Whitty says face masks may reduce the possibility of transmitting coronavirus onwards, although washing hands regularly and social distancing are the most important ways to be careful.
