Armed police kill 'out of control' dog after two people attacked and bitten in street

In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 9.30pm last night (Friday August 6), police were called to reports of a dog loose on Morley Street, Rochdale. "Unfortunately, due to the nature of the incident, the dog was humanely destroyed as a safety precaution due to the number of people in the area and the injuries caused."The swift action to the danger posed by the dog in Rochdale comes after the nearby tragedy of three-year-old Daniel Twigg, who was mauled to death by a dog in May.
