Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani remarkably claimed the club had "been screwed up" over a deal to sign Bamba Dieng before the forward failed his medical assessment at OGC Nice. With first-team strikers Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo both sidelined, the Yorkshire outfit had earmarked Dieng, 22, as their no1 priority on Transfer Deadline Day.

Leeds then agreed a deal in excess of £10million for the Senegal international, who rattled in seven goals in 25 Ligue 1 outings last term, and Dieng was due to fly into Thorpe Arch for a medical. However, the deal was hijacked by OGC Nice just before the 22-year-old was set to board his flight and Radrizzani opted to pull the plug on the deal rather than renegotiate at a higher price.
