Manchester United and England forward Andy Cole was told by a doctor that he might have died if it wasn't for his physical fitness before his lifesaving kidney transplant.The 50-year-old scored 187 goals across 414 Premier League appearances for seven clubs between 1993 and 2008, putting him third in the all time scoring charts behind only Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer.Having won five Premier League titles, the Champions League and three domestic cups during a glittering playing career, Cole retired in 2008 and has since worked as an ambassador for United.However, back in 2015 Cole fell ill after contracting a virus on a trip to Vietnam which reduced his kidney function to just 7% of its usual capacity - and needed a lifesaving kidney.
