Former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer should return to St James’ Park to help get the best out of misfiring striker Joelinton, according to club legend Malcolm Macdonald.
Joelinton, 23, is the most expensive signing in the Magpies’ history, having sealed a £40m move from Hoffenheim back in the summer.
But the Brazilian has failed to justify such a hefty price tag on Tyneside, scoring just three goals in 29 appearances for Steve Bruce’s side this season.
And Macdonald, who scored 138 goals in 257 appearances for Newcastle, believes he or Geordie icon Shearer should be brought in to help Joelinton find his shooting boots.
