READ MORE:BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood admits to 'throwing a tantrum' as Jon Kay in disbeliefBut his new album, Close To Home, hasn’t been a complete hit with fans after the star issued an apology after business giants Amazon painted over the black and white mural of the Joy Division frontman to promote his new music.Fans of the artwork on Port Street in the Northern Quarter noticed the name Aitch had been painted in white on a clean black wall last week.Now the star has reassured fans that he is working with the original graffiti artist, Akse – who first painted the portrait back in 2020 – to replace the artwork.In an interview with the BBC newsreaders he confessed that he had no idea about the removal of the artwork until he found out days later on Twitter.He told viewers: “I don’t pick and choose where I put my billboards or album promo I just wake up and drive past it or see it on the internet just like everyone else.“So basically I’ve seen it straight away, I made a phone call, we spoke to Amazon, we spoke to the artist and we just put a stop to mine straight away.“We’re gonna get it restored or redone of the original artist.
