Over 50,000 Brits could be unknowingly infected with coronavirus, the Government’s top disease expert has warned. Chief Scientific Officer Sir Patrick Vallance told MPs that 55,000 infections would be a “reasonable ballpark figure” – but refused to commit to widespread COVID-19 testing.
He revealed that the government’s new plan is to keep deaths below 20,000 –and warned: “We simply dont have mass testing capacity available now” ”There are not enough tests.
