Zoo worker, 54, seriously injured after being mauled by camel during feeding

A zookeeper has been seriously injured after he was bitten in the face by a camel in Germany. The 54-year-old man was cleaning out an enclosure and feeding the animals at Perleberg Zoo when he was suddenly attacked by the camel on Sunday morning.

The worker was rushed to hospital where he said to have serious injuries. Police released details of the incident at the zoo, located between Berlin and Hamburg, on Monday.

Zoos in Germany are currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions. Last September an animal keeper was seriously injured at the Madrid Zoo after being attacked by a gorilla.

The 46-year-old woman reportedly suffered a head injury, chest trauma with multiple fractures and and two broken arms and was rushed to the Madrid
