Rugby League Live understands Hardaker will now remain at the DW Stadium next year despite months of talks with the club about a move away due to a change in personal circumstances.
Hardaker's family has returned to West Yorkshire and as a result, the 29-year-old is now commuting to Wigan, rather than living locally.
That prompted Hardaker to request permission to seek a move closer to home earlier this year, though Wigan were reluctant to let the former Man of Steel leave.
