A couple spent a staggering £68,000 revamping their dark and cramped family home – but the finished look has been branded "boring".
Rachel and Mike went on BBC Two's Your Home Made Perfect after complaining that their dingy home made them feel trapped. The unhappy home-owners also said that there was nowhere in the house for their two daughters to play and said it felt unbearably cluttered.
Rival architects Laura Jane Clark and Robert Jamison competed to come up with a design solution within the couple's £40,000 budget.
Robert's design was more outlandish – creating new levels in the living room for a raised play area and introducing a green and leafy feature wall.
