A woman has told of her shock after her beloved pet cat returned home five years after going missing.Elizabeth Antev was almost resigned to never seeing her cat Kiki ever again after spending a year searching for her pet, to no avail, before eventually moving house.

But she was given the most pleasant surprise recently when she received a call out of the blue to say the missing puss had turned up and was ready to return home.Elizabeth, from Ontario, Canada, said Kiki had gone missing from her family home in Edmonton, Alberta, five years ago.She was not gutted when Kiki didn't return home one day, so she began searching, using flyers, signs and word of mouth in an attempt to locate her pet.But her efforts came up short and after searching for months, the family moved to Ontario about a year later, but still Elizabeth hadn't given up all hope. She kept her original phone number, hoping that one day if Kiki was discovered, her contact information attached to the cat's microchip would still work. And thanks to Kiki's microchip the pair were eventually reunited.A resident in the Edmonton area where Elizabeth lived five years earlier managed to capture the stray.Hana Kadri, from the Rapperswill neighbourhood, not far from Elizabeth's former residence, told how recently she started leaving food out after noticing a cat on her backyard surveillance camera."I was home so I would see her come eat, and she would come three times a day for food, so I posted on a local Facebook page to see if she belonged to anyone," Hana told Global News. After no luck online, a neighbour helped Hana to capture Kiki so they could take her to a vet, which is where a scan of the cat's chip revealed Kiki's true identity.
