Woman safely helped down from bridge over A6 in Salford

Police say they were called to 'concern over the welfare of a woman' who was seen on the wrong side of a bridge over the A6 Broad Street at the Pendleton Roundabout.

The roundabout and nearby roads were closed to traffic just before noon. Officers were able to safely help the woman down, and the roads were then reopened at around 1pm.

The closure caused long delays in Salford around the A6 and on Broughton Road. Stagecoach, Go North West, Diamond and Arriva buses were all diverted around the scene of the incident.
