A woman was rushed to hospital after being involved in a serious road smash in Edinburgh.The 64-year-old was involved in the single vehicle crash in the capital's Lanark Road on Friday.

Police and fire crews raced to the scene amid reports the crash, at around 2.50pm, yesterday afternoon.The road was closed while the emergency services, including two fire engines, dealt with the aftermath of the smash, and the woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.Her condition is not yet known.A Police Scotland spokesperson said today: "Police were called to a report of a one vehicle crash on Lanark Road in Edinburgh around 2.50pm on Friday, June 25. "Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.
