Woman dragged to her death by alligator after 'wanting to get close' to animal

dailystar.co.ukA woman in the United States told friends she "wanted to get close" to an alligator shortly before one dragged her to her death.
Police in South Carolina said 58-year-old Cynthia Covert hadn't screamed when the creature grabbed her in its mouth and dragged her into the pound on Kiawah Island on Friday.
According to a friend she was staying with, she hadn't seemed herself on the day she walked towards the alligator. Officers were called to the pond just after 5pm and saw the horrifying attack.
The alligator lunged and grabbed Cynthia in its mouth when she got to just four feet away. A deputy shot and killed the alligator when they arrived.
