Woman dies after suffering serious injuries near primary school as police swoop

A woman has died after being found with serious injuries near a school this morning - with pupils being funneled out by a separate entrance to avoid the police cordons.

The woman in her 60s was found just metres from Fazakerley Primary School in Liverpool at 9am. Police have launched a major investigation into the "unexplained death" and officers erected cordons on Formosa Drive and Dereham Crescent by the school.

A forensic tent has also been placed in the middle of one of the cordons, the Echo reports. Neighbours are believed to have found the woman and called for an ambulance.
