Woman charged after Land Rover ploughed into Bearsden family on Boxing Day killing one and injuring four

court after a car ploughed into a family, killing one person and injuring six others. Community worker Eleanor Ballantyne, 60, died after being knocked down by a Land Rover as she walked to a restaurant on Boxing Day with relatives.

Four family members were seriously injured, including a 15-year-old boy. Two of the victims have still not fully recovered.Janette Henry, 65, has appeared in court over the smash in Manse Road, Bearsden, near Glasgow.The car hit pedestrians as they walked to an Italian restaurant.

The vehicle then crashed into a parked car.A police spokesman said: “A 65-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the crash. "A full report has been forwarded to the procurator fiscal.” The Crown Office.
