A war widow has blasted defence chiefs for refusing to honour her husband as a hero who gave his life for his country. Jo Jukes’ husband David took his own life in 2018 after leaving the Army, having completed 13 tours.
But the MoD has refused to put his name on a war memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. Mrs Jukes, from Birmingham, received a letter saying there was “insufficient evidence that David’s sad death in October 2018 was directly attributable to his military service”.
But four months earlier the MoD admitted in another letter that his PTSD-related death “was attributable to his service” and that she was entitled to an enhanced pension. Have you been a victim of bullying in the army?
