School Lane in Standish would be three lanes wide if the plan goes ahead, but people living on the road say it would create a 'motorway' outside their homes.
It comes after the local authority revealed how a £6.5m pot could be spent on the small village which has been a hotspot for housebuilding in recent years.
The money comes from Section 106 agreements – financial contributions which developers commit to paying the council during the planning process.
