Who was Dame Vera Lynn's husband? Harry Lewis was born in 1915 and was a saxophonist and clarinetist. Harry and eight other members of the Ambrose orchestra joined the RAF at the start of the Second World War, and subsequently formed a new dance orchestra, The Squadronaires - they performed all over the UK during the war and was occasionally accompanied by Vera n on vocals.
He also worked as his wife's manager following the war, and accompanied her on her international concerts, overseeing lighting and production of her shows.
