UK is set to host next year's Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine, after Brit Sam Ryder came second in this year's competition.
The The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) confirmed that the BBC will be taking on hosting duties for Eurovision 2023.The news comes after it was announced earlier this year that the show couldn't be held in the winning country of Ukraine because of "safety and security reasons" as the country faces an ongoing invasion from Russia.
Instead, the BBC will work with UA: PBC to develop Ukrainian elements of the show and Ukraine will automatically qualify for a place in the Grand Final along with the 'Big 5'.Following the announcement, the host city bidding contest will begin this week and there are already plenty of UK cities who've said they're eager to host.
