From eating mince pies to playing classic board games, every family has their festive traditions. The Queen's very own custom is her Christmas Day speech - she gave her first one on 25 December 1957, making this year its 69th edition.
The speech, which tends to be around 10 minutes long, is usually pre-recorded at Buckingham Palace in mid-December. It normally airs after lunchtime on Christmas Day, followed by the National Anthem.
Last year, Queen Elizabeth reassured anyone spending the special day without friends and family that they were 'not alone.' She paid tribute to the NHS key workers, thanking them for their hard work during the Covid situation and for boosting morale during dark times.
