NHS workers in Greater Manchester have reacted to plans to axe free hospital parking which had been implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Local councils and NHS trusts in England were given cash by the government in March to suspend fees for hospital workers during "this unprecedented time." But last week, health minister, Edward Argar said the money "cannot continue indefinitely." The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed NHS staff and patients will only benefit in "certain circumstances" in England once the pandemic eases, although no timeline has been given.The suspension of parking fees had come as a source of relief for many NHS staff working tirelessly across the region during the pandemic.
