I can remember our first cordless vacuum cleaner. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't very good either. We bought it almost a decade ago when our old corded vacuum started dying a death, hoping it would live up to all its promises of huge power and impressive battery life.

It just didn't. But nowadays the market is awash with cordless cleaners. Dyson obviously has a range that will set you back anything up to £600, but the wife and I have always been fans of Shark.

That's the brand we eventually ran to with our tails between our legs after we realised our posh cordless vacuum was really rather rubbish.

So we've owned a corded Shark vacuum for at least five years now, maybe a bit longer, and it's been a very faithful and trusty tool.
