AT&T's WarnerMedia has tapped former Hulu executive Johannes Larcher to oversee the global rollout of its HBO Max streaming service. Larcher will join the firm in August as head of HBO Max International, reporting to Gerhard Zeiler, chief revenue officer of WarnerMedia and president of WarnerMedia International Networks.He has overseen Arabic language streamer Shahid VIP in his current role as managing director, digital at Dubai-based Middle Eastern media firm MBC Group.

Nick Vivarelli International CorrespondentFormer Hulu exec Johannes Larcher, who most recently worked for Dubai-based MBC Group, has been appointed head of WarnerMedia’s HBO Max International.Larcher, who is a dual U.S.-Austrian national, will join the company in August and report to Gerhard Zeiler, chief revenue officer for WarnerMedia, and president of WarnerMedia International Networks.Larcher worked at Hulu from 2009 to 2013 and served as senior VP for international. He was responsible for all of Hulu’s activities outside the U.S.

AT&T on Thursday said WarnerMedia will take control of its Xandr advertising unit, to be run by WarnerMedia chief revenue officer Gerhard Zeiler. The move follows Brian Lesser, who launched Xandr in 2017, last month leaving the telco giant.
