A member of the Democratic Party, Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president in the 2020 election. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and in 2008.

A White House insider told Reuters that new President Joe Biden will impose a ban on non-US citizens who have recently been in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Brazil and South Africa will be hit with similar bans, it is claimed. It means non-US citizens who have been in any affected country within 14 days will not be allowed into the US.
It reverses a decision by the Trump administration to lift restrictions on people travelling to the US from Brazil and Europe.
