We struggled to stick to lockdown rules as the country basked in a spring heatwave, but now a month of downpours looks set to add more misery to cooped-up Brits.
Leading bookmaker Coral makes it odds-on at 1-2 for next month being the wettest May on record in the UK. "It's going to be a damp start to the new month and our betting suggests there is a strong chance it will end as the wettest May on record in the UK," said Coral's John Hill.
There will be miserable weather across the country over the next couple of weeks, with the worst affected regions expected to be the Midlands and Wales, where there could be an inch of rain in just 24 hours.
