A storm dubbed the new 'Beast from the East' looks set to hit the UK over Christmas - but not before temperatures turn mild and we see some brief sunshine.

The Met Office has warned that the week will turn wetter, bringing spells of strong winds, heavy rain and slightly above average temperatures.

A spokesperson said: "The weather this week is turning wetter and milder, with low pressure bringing spells of strong winds." Two yellow weather warnings are currently in place for Cornwall, Devon and South Wales, where flooding is likely and disruption to transport services and power supplies is expected, from midnight on Friday until 3am on Saturday.
