Thousands of lorry drivers face the heartbreaking prospect of being stranded in Kent on Christmas Day after it emerged the gridlock could last for days.
It follows clashes between angry truckers and police on Wednesday when drivers left their cabs to walk along the road, hoping to get past police guarding the Port of Dover.
Kent Police said one man was arrested on Wednesday for obstructing a highway in Dover. A police car was also damaged during a disturbance at Manston, the force added.
One Polish trucker, Wojtek Golawski, said he had to phone his pregnant wife and their daughters back home to let them know his chances of making it home for Christmas were slim.
