The Met Office has issued five severe thunderstorm warnings covering the most of the UK and starting this afternoon. The yellow weather warnings have been issued for much of England and Wales throughout Wednesday onwards, as huge storms get set to wash out the heatwave.
Thunderclaps have been heard rolling across northern parts of England as the storms begin. Surface flooding has sparked rail and roads warnings in Scotland.
Wednesday's yellow warning covers most of England's north including Yorkshire and the Humber, the Midlands, the eastern coastline, London, and the south, as well as Wales.
