The UK are forecast to enjoy a weekend of "wall-to-wall" sunshine before a band of rain moves in from Monday. Despite temperatures plunging below freezing overnight in parts of northern England and Scotland tonight, sunny spells are due to break through over the weekend.
Met Office meteorologist John Griffiths said the UK experienced a cloudy Friday which was dry weather for most. But he said temperatures did not reach the highs seen earlier this week, when it soared to 16C in parts of London and the south-east.
