April is set to be the hottest for 361 years. A sunshine-filled week of 23C temperatures is being forecast as a “high pressure bubble” makes Britain hotter than parts of Africa.
The 2,000-wide pressure zone will stretch from Scandinavia to Ireland and bring highs nudging 20C on Monday. Forecasters from the Met Office predict long, sunny spells and dry skies for most of the country.
There will be “rather warm” highs topping 20C, hotter than 18C in Essaouira, Morocco. Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: “We’re saying ‘hi’ to the return of high pressure for the coming week.
