pubs where the last woman to be hanged in Britain shot dead her lover is gearing up to reopen.The Magdala Tavern, where Ruth Ellis carried out the murder, has been closed as a pub for seven years.Bullet holes from the shooting were said to have still been visible in the wall of the boozer in Hampstead, north London.The infamous site was in danger of being turned into flats, although the plans fell through following a backlash from residents.Comedian Frank Skinner even joined the fight to stop it becoming a 880sq ft two-bedroom luxury apartment.After an 18-month renovation, the historic pub is now ready to reopen and will start selling takeaway drinks when lockdown is eased from April 12.Landlord Dick Morgan, 70, who grew up 500 yards away.
