The government say they are not ready to review lockdown measures, despite the number of new coronavirus cases "moving in the right direction." Speaking at Tuesday's Downing Street press conference, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said the country must not take its foot off the pedal.
Mr Raab stepped in to chair the meeting for Boris Johnson, who was moved to the intensive care unit at St Thomas' Hospital on Monday night.
Deputising for the PM "where necessary", Mr Raab said he was “confident” Boris Johnson would pull through. At the press conference, chief scientific officer, Sir Patrick Vallance, said that the number of new cases in the UK "could be moving in the right direction" but it would not be clear "for a week or so."
