Soap star Alan Igbon has died aged 68, according to his niece.The British actor was best known for his work across ITV soap Coronation Street and Channel 4’s Brookside. Igbon also had several other acclaimed television show credits to his name.Igbon’s niece Lee-Ann Igbon posted news of his death on social media yesterday.In a touching tribute on Facebook, she said: “Early December 2020 my mums brother Alan Igbon my uncle passed away peaceful."He is well known for being an actor in Boys from the black stuff, Scum, GBH, Coronation st, Brookside and many more.

To soap fans, Alan Igbon will long be remembered as Coronation Street’s Tony Stewart but the 68-year-old made his presence felt in a host of TV dramas and films.

Coronation Street, as well as making appearances in Brookside, Doctors, and the police drama The Professionals. Igbon is said to have died in early December, with his niece confirming her uncle "passed away peaceful" in a touching statement.
