Andy Gray death: Nicola Sturgeon leads tributes to River City star as acting legend dies aged 61

news of the River City star’s tragic passing at the age of 61. The Perth-born actor was most recently known for his role as Pete Galloway on the hit BBC Scotland soap.

But he was also regarded as a legend on the Scottish panto circuit during an incredible 40-year stage career.The star first found fame on the BBC with Naked Radio and Naked Video before joining the sitcom City Lights, where he played the iconic Chancer.

He went on to take to the streets of Shieldinch before stepping down from his role on River City in 2018 as he battled with the rare blood cancer Myelodysplastic syndrome.

People in all walks of life in Scotland have been paying tribute to the star over social media - from co-stars to politicians.
