A frightened mum was "held hostage" in her own home by a former partner who knocked her unconscious with a kettle and attacked her with a metal broom.
Tony Ash appeared in the victim's flat unannounced while she was getting ready for bed and launched a terrifying attack which left her fearing that she would die.
Using punches, kicks and weapons, Ash left his ex-partner drifting in and out of consciousness and with multiple injuries during the savage attack at a flat in Byker, Newcastle.
A court heard how the violence continued throughout the night until the following morning when she eventually managed to flee her home, as reported by Chronicle Live.They had been together for approximately nine months but split up not long before the attack in October 2021.
